Design
- The probe is a tapered, rodlike instrument calibrated in millimetres, with a blunt, rounded tip
- One end is The World Health Organisation probe, having millimetre markings and a small, round ball at the tip. The other end has the University of North Carolina (UNC) 15-probe
- WHO probe has a 15mm long probe marked at each millimetre and colour-coded at the 5th, 10th, and 15th millimetres
- UNC probe has a 0.5mm ball at the tip and markings at 3.5, 8.5, and 11.5 mm and colour coding from 3.5 to 5.5mm

Description
